Hashkamah Minyan Mission
|
The Hashkama Minyan originated at the beginning of 5763 (October 2002).
The mandate of the Hashkama Minyan is to provide an early, express,
participatory, traditional Conservative service on Shabbat and Yom Tov
mornings. The Hashkama Minyan has to be early and express because space is at a premium at Shaar Shalom Synagogue and early is the only time that room is available. The Hashkama Minyan is participatory which means we need your support, not only to help make a minyan, but to lead services, read Torah and Haftorah, Gabbai, sponsor kiddushes, etc. There is no hired help. If you would like to volunteer to lead services, or read Torah, or Haftorah, please don't hesitate to step forward. Perhaps, you would like to volunteer, but feel that your skills are a little rusty. Perhaps, you would like to learn some of these skills for the first time. Please don't hesitate to ask and we will be more than happy to arrange for lessons, tapes, or whatever else it takes to get you up and participating. The Minyan is traditional Conservative because Shaar Shalom Synagogue is a traditional Conservative synagogue by charter. Rabbi Berman is the Rabbi of the Minyan and will decide all Halachic issues that may arise. |
